President, First Lady, and State Counsellor offer ‘‘soon” (day meal) to Sayadaws

President U Win Myint, First Lady Daw Cho Cho, and State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi offered ‘‘soon” to the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Sayadaws, the Tipidakadhara Tipidaka Kovida Sayadaws, and the candidate Sayadaws, who will be receiving religious titles, at 9:30 am yesterday at the Sasana Maha Beikman in the precinct of the Uppatasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw.
Present on the occasion were the Sayadaws and senior monks led by Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Bhamo Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Kumara Bhivamsa, Vice President U Myint Swe, Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker Mahn Win Khaing Than’s wife Nant Kyin Kyi, Union Chief Justice U Htun Htun Oo, Union Constitutional Tribunal Chair U Myo Nyunt, Union Election Commission Chair U Hla Thein and wife Daw Aye Thida, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, Pyithu Hluttaw Deputy Speaker U Tun Tun Hein’s wife Dr Sein Sein Thein, Union Ministers, the Union Auditor-General, the Union Civil Service Board Chairman, the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chair, the Central Bank of Myanmar Governor, the Joint Chief of Staff (Army, Navy and Air Force), the Nay Pyi Taw Command Commander, deputy ministers, the deputy attorney-general, the Nay Pyi Taw Council members and wives, permanent secretaries, departmental heads, officials and invited guests among others.
Before the event, State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi paid homage to the Buddha image enshrined in the Sasana Maha Beikman and presented it with an emerald alms-bowl of rice, flowers, water and lights.
President U Win Myint, First Lady Daw Cho Cho, State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and the congregation then received the five precepts given by State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Chair Bhamo Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Kumara Bhivamsa and listened to the Metta Sutta (Buddha’s loving-kindness chant) sermons recited by the Sayadaws and venerable monks.

Afterwards, President U Win Myint and the First Lady submitted the offertories to the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Chair Bhamo Sayadaw Dr Baddanta Kumara Bhivamsa and Ovadacariya Pyinmana Maha Withutayama Zaygon Monastery Sayadaw Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Dr. Bhaddanta Kavisara.
The State Counsellor also submitted the offertories to State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Secretary Sayadaw Thanlyin Minkyaung Pariyatti Monastery’s Presiding Monk Aggha Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Candima Bhivamsa and Myingyan Chaungdaung Pariyatti Monastery Sayadaw Bhaddanta Kelasa.
Next, Vice President U Myint Swe, Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker Mahn Win Khaing Than’s wife, Union Chief Justice U Tun Tun Oo, State Constitutional Tribunal Chair U Myo Nyunt, Union Election Commission Chair U Hla Thein and wife Daw Aye Thida, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, Pyithu Hluttaw Deputy Speaker U Tun Tun Hein’s wife Dr Sein Sein Thein, union ministers, the auditor-general, the union civil service board chairman, the Nay Pyi Taw Council chair, the Central Bank of Myanmar governor, the joint chief of staff (Army, Navy and Air Force), the Nay Pyi Taw Command commander, deputy ministers, the deputy attorney-general, the Nay Pyi Taw Council members and wives and the permanent secretaries presented the donation items to the Venerable Sayadaws, Senior Monks and candidate Sayadaws, who will be receiving the religious titles, respectively.

The congregation then listened to the sermons given by State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Secretary SayadawThanlyin Minkyaung Pariyatti Monastery’s Presiding Monk Aggha Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Candima Bhivamsa and shared the merits to all those present and other sentient beings.
