Nay Pyi Taw, 17 July—President U Thein Sein arrived Friday in Kayah State, where he was welcomed by Chief Minister U Khin Maung Oo, Commander of Eastern Command Maj-Gen Aye Win and officials at Loikaw Airport.
The president and party proceeded to Pruhso by helicopter.
At Prusho Township People’s Hospital, the president comforted patients and presented aid.
The president, after inspecting the medical store, instructed officials to make preparations for common diseases in the rainy season and provide medicines to the hospital.
He later met with local residents and students at the basic education high school in Prusho.
The president paid homage to Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Pannasami of Shwetaung Pariyatti Monastery in Loikaw and donated provisions.
At Loikaw Catholic Church, the president cordially met with Bishop Stephen Tjephe and religious leaders. Father Celso Ba Shwe opened the ceremony and the Bishop extended greetings.
The president presented 150 bags of rice and containers of cooking oil to the bishop.
In the evening, the Chief Minister of Kayah State hosted a dinner to the president and party at the city hall.—MNA
