Prime Minister of United Kingdom congratulates State Counsellor on victory in recent election

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, had a teleconference with the Rt. Hon Boris Johnson MP, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on 20 November.
During the conversation, the Prime Minister congratulated the State Counsellor on the victory of the National League for Democracy in the recent general elections in Myanmar. They also cordially exchanged views on matters related to promoting bilateral relations and cooperation in the fight against Covid-19 global pandemic and combatting climate change, strengthening partnership between ASEAN and the United Kingdom and the ongoing challenges facing Myanmar in its transition including the issue of Rakhine State. The Prime Minister also invited the State Counsellor to participate at the Climate Ambition Virtual Summit to be held in December 2020 and at the forthcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 26) to be held in November 2021.—MNA
