The following are the congratulatory messages from Mr Tan Sri Muhyiddin Mohd Yassin, Prime Minister of Malaysia, The Hon Scott Morrison, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia, and Mr Xavier Bettel, Prime Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg sent to State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi for the successful General Election held on 8 November 2020.
Mr Tan Sri Muhyiddin Mohd Yassin, Prime Minister of Malaysia sends congratulatory message to the State Counsellor
In the Prime Minister’s congratulatory message he conveyed his felicitations and congratulated the State Counsellor and the National League for Democracy (NLD) on the victory in the recent General Elections of Myanmar.
The Prime Minister also expressed his belief that the people of Myanmar have indeed spoken, expressing their hope for democracy to deliver the future they envision and the renewed mandate is a clear testament of their support for and trust in the State Counsellor’s leadership.
He further expressed that the progress in Myanmar has achieved under the State Counsellor’s leadership in the past five years is admirable. Moreover, he expressed his belief that the newly elected Government of Myanmar will continue to be dedicated to overcoming the challenges, fulfilling the will of the people, and achieving the vision of a peaceful and prosperous Myanmar.
He also reaffirmed that as a close neighbour and partner in ASEAN, Malaysia will continue to work together with Myanmar to enhance cooperation. He also assured that Malaysia and Myanmar would be able to do much more together, to bring mutual benefit and prosperity to the two peoples.

I write to extend my warm congratulations on your party’s re-election on 8 November 2020. I commend the people of Myanmar on the peaceful conduct of the elections, and this important milestone in Myanmar’s democratic transition.
I am pleased Australia was able to support Myanmar’s election process. Australia and Myanmar share a longstanding partnership and I thank you again for your kind words during Australia’s bushfire crisis.
I look forward to continuing to work with you and your government on Myanmar’s reform agenda, human rights, and the region’s COVID-19 recovery, a key focus for Australia. As I announced at the ASEAN-Australia Summit, Australia will open a liaison office in Nay Pyi Taw, which will enhance our engagement with your government on all of these issues.
Mr Xavier Bettel, Prime Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg sends congratulatory message to the State Counsellor
In the name of the Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and in my very personal name, I would like to congratulate you and the National League for Democracy (NLD) wholeheartedly on your success in the well-run and competitive elections in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the European Union have been supportive of Myanmar’s democratic process with a full participation of all its inhabitants and their involvement to the socioeconomic development which needs to be pursued.
I am confident that throughout the next years, the deepening of the friendly ties between our two countries will continue and that Luxembourg and Myanmar will further strengthen their political and economic relations.
