Procurement of reserved rice underway to aid disaster-affected regions

Officials from the State Reserved Rice Purchasing Supervisory Committee inspect the second batch of reserved rice purchasing process during a field visit yesterday.

Chairman of the State Reserved Rice Purchasing Supervisory Committee Deputy Minister for Commerce U Nyunt Aung made a field visit to inspect the second batch of reserved rice purchasing process which is being carried out in collaboration between the ministry and the Myanmar Rice Federation yesterday.
In the second batch, 0.5 million sacks of rice will be purchased. The first batch saw 0.2 million sacks of rice purchased and distributed to disaster-affected areas under the supervision of the Natural Disaster Management Committee in May.
After the purchased rice has been examined for quality and quantity, it will be distributed to disaster-affected areas under the directive of the management committee. — MNA/TH
