Pyidaungsu Hluttaw concludes successfully


THE Pyidaungsu Hluttaw came to a successful conclusion yesterday, following the discussions and suggestions by MPs in connection with the undertakings throughout its tenure.
Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker U Khin Aung Myint praised the two Houses for their engagement in the exercise of checks and balances despite some disagreements, stressing that a majority decision is not a universal truth.
The speaker also commended the representatives for their unbiased and selfless commitments to national interests during the five-year parliament.
MPs, including Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Deputy Speaker U Nanda Kyaw Swar and Amyotha Hluttaw Deputy Speaker U Mya Nyein, expressed their suggestions.
Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Speaker Thura U Shwe Mann pointed out the need for the parliament and other institutions to abide by the law in the accomplishment of their objectives, urging the incoming Houses to continue with new legislation in conformity with the time and the system.
The speaker declared the first Pyidaungsu Hluttaw session had successfully come to a close.
The second Pyidaungsu Hluttaw sessions will start on 1 February.
Following the end of the first Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, a luncheon in honour of the outgoing MPs and incoming MPs was held at the parliamentary building with attendence by Vice President Dr Sai Mauk Kham.
