Nay Pyi Taw 19 Jan— Speaker of Pyidaungsu Hluttaw and Pyithu Hluttaw Thura U Shwe Mann received the speaker of South Korea’s National Assembly, Dr Chung Ui-hwa and party at Hluttaw Building Monday.
During the meeting, Thura U Shwe Mann said cooperation between Myanmar and South Korea has improved and seen development of bilateral ties between the two countries.
He also said Myanmar has achieved success in political reform processes, while economic and social sectors are still lagging behind many regional countries as democratization process is facing with many challenges.
Thura U Shwe Mann invited more investments of Korean businesses and promotion of trades, noting that the importance of human resource for the development of country, while Myanmar has abundant natural resources.
Dr Chung Ui-hwa said he has witnessed Myanmar as ‘a rising star of Asia’ during his visit, adding that the two countries have possessed certain historical and cultural identities, with 40 percent of Korean population are Buddhists.
Korean speaker said the three fundamentals for the development of South Korea are parents’ encouragement to their children for education, self-motivation of Korean people for works, and abilities of state leaders.
He finally remarked that democratization processes of Myanmar after 2015 general election is believed to gain momentum, promising to help in agricultural sector, science and technologies as Korean people are still grateful to humanitarian assistance of Myanmar people while the former were facing with difficulties in the past.
Thura U Shwe Mann then served the Korean delegation with luncheon. MNA
