Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U Win Myint unveiled a Bogyoke Aung San statue in Htantabin Township, Toungoo District, Bago Region yesterday morning.
The event was begun by Bago Region Chief Minister U Win Thein, Pyithu Hluttaw representative U Zaw Win, Amyotha Hluttaw representative U Min Oo and Htantabin District chief administrator U Than Shwe, as they cut the ceremonial ribbon.
Next, Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U Win Myint unveiled the Bogyoke Aung San statue by pressing a button and then delivered the opening
Afterwards, Bago Region Chief Minister delivered a speech and U Thaung Kyaing, a representative of the Bogyoke Aung San statue organizing committee, delivered a message of thanks.
Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U Win Myint and event attendees then posed for a commemorative group photo.
The Bogyoke Aung San statue is 8 ft. high and cast in bronze, weighing more than 150 Viss (about 245 kg). The statue was created at a cost of more than Ks 32.5 million in donations, and was erected in a 70 ft. x 45 ft. space in front of Thiri Mingala Hall, Htantabin Township.
