Rakhine traditional ceremony to pay respects to elders held on 17 April

The 54th all Sittway Rakhine traditional ceremony of paying respects to elders took place at the U Oattama Hall, Sittway Township, on 17 April.
The ceremony was jointly organised by the committee for holding the Rakhine State traditional Thingyan festival and the committee for holding the Sittway Rakhine traditional ceremony for paying respects to elders.
First, the congregation led by Rakhine State Chief Minister U Nyi Pu, ministers and other officials from
the department concerned paid their respects to the elderly.
Next, U San Thar Maung, chairman of the organising committee, explained the purpose of the ceremony.
The Chief Minister and other ministers, the members of the ceremony organising committee and other donors distributed cash, medicines and other necessities to the
elderly in each ward in Rakhine State.
The committee for the all Sittway Rakhine traditional ceremony of paying respects to elders visited some 135 elderly people aged 80 and above in the wards in Sittway town and paid their respects.
Also Present at the ceremony were State Chief Minister U Nyi Pu, State Ministers and their wives, State Advocate General, officials and members of Rakhine Culture organisations.
