Rehabilitation tasks carried out in Kokang area


Nay Pyi Taw, 21 June — Chairman of the Administrative Supporting Committee for Rehabilitation ofKokang Self-Administered Zone in Shan State Union Minister at the President Office U HlaTun arrived at Laukkai by Air Force helicopter on Saturday.
Then, the union minister attended the ceremony to hand over assistance of the union government at the city hall and made a speech.
He said that stability and tranquility was undermined in the zone and local people suffered losses of lives and property due to violence attacks of Kokang insurgents.
According to the union minister, the government, while restoring stability on the one hand, has formed an administrative supporting committee to speed up implementation of tasks for reconstruction of education, health and socioeconomic conditions for people who have returned to the self-administered zone and the committee will find out ways and means to fulfill the needs of local more effectively by studying conditions on the ground.
Then, he urged local people to cooperate with the government.
Afterwards, the union minister, the chief minister of Shan State and officials presented assistance to a local people who accepted on behalf of locals.
Later, Military Administrative Region Commander Col Saw MyintOo reported on the union minister and party on work done during the military administration in the zone.
After hearing the report, the union minister said that national unity is important for peaceful and developed stage after building favourable economic, political and social conditions desired by the union in successive eras and urged local people to cooperate with authorities.
Then, the union minister attended a ceremony to present assistance for locals at Kokang High School.
The union minister also inspected Yanlonkyan gate at Myanmar-China border and N0. 14 Military Hospital.
On Sunday, the union minister visited the military hospital in Lashio and comforted the patients, before organizing a meeting of the committee with its members in Lashio.
The committee has provided 7,080 bags of rice, 2,900 viss of edible oil, 22,500 viss of pulses and over K 2 billion worth of household goods.
