Monks, celebrities, and public donate cash and kind to flood victims

Currently, Tatmadaw members, Myanmar fire brigade members, police force members and social relief associations are making ongoing relief efforts and providing temporary shelters for flood victims.
MyaukU Sayadaw and Mizzima Gonyi Sayadaw donated K100 million and K50 million, respectively, and a Parahita organization led by Mizzima Gonyi Sayadaw will fund K100 million to flood victims nationwide.
Famous actors and singers have also made donations through actress Khaing Hnin Wai, who is renowned for her philanthropic works. Famous singers such as Cherry Thin and Dun wrote on their Facebook pages that they would participate in charity shows for flood victims.

“If a charity show for flood victims is organized, I will lead it. It is fine for me to sing if it is a busking unplugged show,” said Cherry Thin.
Some theatrical artistes have also led fundraising in flood-hit areas, and professional photographers and artists have also announced that they would sell their own artworks, and proceeds will go to flood victims. The public from non-flooded regions have also provided food, clothing, and cash, and Parahita associations have also given necessary aid. — MT/ZS
