Additional statistical bulletin on drug seizures, acting on information

1. In order to prevent and eradicate the dangers of narcotic drugs and psychotropic drugs, the Office of the President has formed the Drug Activity Special Complaint Department on 26 June 2018 to systematically accept and respond to reports on drug abuses and other related cases from the general public.
2. With orders from the Office of the President, the Drug Activity Special Complaint Department relayed information on reports on drug-related offences up to 24 October 2020 to the Ministry of Home Affairs to take action, as displayed below:

1.Information received of Shwe Daung who lives in Natsin Village, Indaw Township, Sagaing Region, using, distributing and selling illegal drugs.On 18 October 2020, police searched the house of Shwe Daung, 35, son of U Maung Thant, who lives in Natsin Village, Indaw Township and arrested him and two others –Than Naing, 36, son of U Aung Nyunt, who live in the same village and Kyaw Thu, 33, son of U Ohn Shwe, who lives in Tonepu Village — together with heroin.

A case has been opened against them with MaMaSa (Indaw)MaYa(pa)182/2020 under Section 16(c) and 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

2.Information received of some people using, distributing and selling illegal drugs in Ngonphu gold mine, Moelin Village, Homalin Township, Sagaing Region.On 21 October 2020, police arrested Aung Naing Tun, 24, son of U Win Pe, and Win Myint, 46, son of U Khaing, who live in Ngonphu gold mine, Moelin Village, Homalin Township, together with heroin.

A case has been opened against them with NaMaSa (Minekine)MaYa(pa)69/2020 under Section 16(c) and 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

3.Information received of Yazar Aung who lives in Hinthaw Village, Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, using, distributing and selling illegal drugs.On 22 October 2020, police searched the house of Bilu (a) Aung Zaw Moe, 45, son of U Nyo Lay, who lives in Zin Village, Kanbalu Township and arrested him together with heroin.

A case has been opened against him with MaMaSa (Kanbalu)MaYa(pa)16/2020 under Section 16(c) and 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

Acting on an interrogation, police arrested Yazar Aung, 42, son of U Nyunt Aung, who lives in Hinthaw Village, Kanbalu Township, together with heroin.

A case has been opened against him with MaMaSa (Kanbalu)MaYa(pa)17/2020 under Section 16(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

4.Information received of some people using, distributing and selling illegal drugs on the Abid-Khalaedagondaing village road in Mudon Township, Mon State.Police have opened 20 cases and arrested 34 men together with speciosa and stimulant tablets in the previous weeks.

Acting on a tip-off, police searched a motor cycle on the road of Abid-Khalaedagondaing Village near Abid Village, Mudon Township on 18 October 2020. It was driven by Thura Win, 35, son of U Khin Maung Win who live in Mupon Ward, Mawlamyine Township, and arrested him together with ‘WY’ stimulant tablets.

A case has been opened against him with NaMaSa (Kamarwet)MaYa(pa)51/2020 under Section 19(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

Similarly, police searched a motor cycle on the same road that was driven by Kyaw Lin, 26, son of U Myint Soe who live in Kawtkhait Village, and his accompany Ko Ko, 16, son of U Moe Kyaw Thu, who live in Myoma 4 Ward and arrested them together with ‘WY’ stimulant tablets.

A case has been opened against him with NaMaSa (Kamarwet)MaYa(pa)52/2020 under Section 16(c) and 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

5.Information received of selling illegal drugs at Room No 319, Building A, Muditar housing, Mayangon Township, Yangon Region.On 20 October 2020, police searched the apartment of Wei Phyo Zin, 25, son of U Thaung Aye, and his wife Ma Shwe Yamin, 29, daughter of U Pauk Sa, who live in Room No 319, Building A, Muditar housing, Mayangon Township and arrested them and three others –Thaung Htaik Oo, 36, son of U Thaung Aye, Kyaw Lin Tun, 21, son of U Kyaw Kyaw Khaing, and Aung Kyaw Htet, 21, son of U Myint Shwe — together with ‘WY’ stimulant tablets.

A case has been opened against them with NaMaSa (Bayintnaung)MaYa(pa)29/2020 under Section 19(a) and 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

6.Information received of Shwe Ohsi, Thant Zin Htet and Ann Kon who live in 10/South 13 Ward, Thakayta Township, Yangon Region, using, distributing and selling illegal drugs.On 20 October 2020, police searched the house of Shwe Ohsi (a) Zaw Moe Win, 29, son of U Myint Lwin, Thant Zin Tun (a)Thant Zin Htet, 23, son of U Myo Min Tun, and Ann Kon (a) Pyaeson Tun, 22, son of Myo Min Tun, who live in 10/South 13 Ward, Thakayta Township but they avoided from there. Shwe Ohsi’s wife Ma Win Thuza, 21, daughter of U Myint Htwe, Ma Thin Khaing (a) Mi Thin, 45, daughter of U Thein Kyaw, who live in that house, Myo Zaw (a) Myo Zaw Zaw, 26, son of U Myo Paing, Aye Paing, 24, son of U Myint Lwin and Myat Min Oo (a) Aung Myint Oo, 27, son of U Tin Oo, who live in the same ward, were arrested together with ‘WY’ stimulant tablets and marijuana from that house.

A case has been opened against them with NaMaSa (Thakayta)MaYa(pa)40/2020 under Section 19(a) and 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

7.Information received of Athaylay who lives in No 88 Ward, Dagon Myothit Township (Seikkan), Yangon Region, distributing and selling illegal drugs.On 21 October 2020, police seized ‘WY’ stimulant tablets hide in a bundle of cheroots which were sent to Soe Thu, 27, son of U Soe Lwin, who facing narcotic drug charges in custody of Dagon Myothit Township (Seikkan) police station, by his wife Ma Myint Myint Maw (a) Myat Myat Maw (a) Athaylay, 29, daughter of U Aung Khin, who lives in No 88 Ward, Dagon Myothit Township (Seikkan).

A case has been opened against them with MaMaSa (Dagon Seikkan)MaYa(pa)47/2020 under Section 16(c) and 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

8.Information received of some people using, distributing and selling illegal drugs in No 5 Ward, Lashio Township, northern Shan State.Police have opened 19 cases and arrested 20 men and five women together with heroin and stimulant tablets in the previous weeks.

Acting on a tip-off, police searched the house of Myo Min (a) Mineshu (a) Thargyi, 27, son of U Hsan Lwin, who lives in No 5 Ward, and arrested him together with stimulant tablets and heroin on 20 October 2020.

A case has been opened against him with MaMaSa (Lashio)MaYa(pa)158/2020 under Section 19(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

9.Information received of Ko Htaik who lives in Shwe Kyaung Ward, Hsipaw Township, northern Shan State, distributing and selling illegal drugs.On 21 October 2020, police searched the house of Nay Win Htet (a) Ko Htet (a) Ko Htaik, 40, son of U Tin Maung, who lives in Shwe Kyaung Ward, Hsipaw Township, and arrested him together with ‘WY’ stimulant tablets.

A case has been opened against him with MaMaSa (Hsipaw)MaYa(pa)76/2020 under Section 16(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

3. Out of the information sent to the Drug Activity Special Complaint Department, so far a total of 1,388 cases have been opened files as of 24 October 2020. A total of 2,124 people, including 1,769 men and 355 women had been arrested with 10,474.1504 g of heroin, 1,489.42 g of ICE, 47,934.17886 g of opium, 1,407.96 g of low-quality opium, 54,901.74 g of speciosa powder, 54,597.32 g of speciosa, 2.5 litres of liquid speciosa, 684,047 stimulant tablets, 14,871.88 g of marijuana, 0.1 litres of opium tincture, 640.28 g of opium blocks, 60 g of poppy seeds, 60.15 g of crushed stimulant tablet powder, 0.001 g of crushed ecstasy powder, 28 firearms, different kinds of 669 cartridges and one grenade. Efforts for fighting the drug trafficking has been stepped up and the department will report on further exposed cases.
4. To seize further drugs and to arrest drugs dealers, people are urged to inform the Ministry of Home Affairs, region and state governments and to inform huge cases of drug trafficking and other suspicious cases directly to the Drug Activity Special Complaint Department of the Office of the President via following contact numbers:
