ROK donates 650 tons of rice for natural disaster victims in Bago

THE Republic of Korea (ROK) donated 650 tons of rice for victims of natural disaster in the Bago region during a ceremony in the Taw Win Han Thar hall of the Bago region’s government office on 18 December, under the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR) Programme-3.
The Bago Region Chief Minister U Win Thein delivered a speech at the ceremony. The Agricultural Department’s (Head office) Deputy Director General, U Aye Ko Ko, and General Manager of the APTERR secretariat, Mr. Chanpithya Shimphalee, also spoke at the event. The Representative for the ROK Embassy, Mr. Jung Yung Soo, then explained the role of APTERR in the donation.
Afterwards, Mr. Chanpithya Shimphalee and Mr. Jung Yung Soo made the donation to the Bago region’s Chief Minister. In turn, U Win Thein presented them with a certificate of honor and souvenirs.
The ceremony was also attended by Bago region ministers, the government secretary and officials, Agricultural Department officials, and personnel from regional agencies.
A total of 16,250 donated rice bags will be distributed among the townships of the region. As a donation, 3,471 bags will be handed to Toungoo, 6,173 bags to Yedashe, 272 bags to Kyaukgyi, 538 bags to Phyu, 182 bags to Ottwin, 18 bags to Htantabin, 1,850 bags to Bago, 526 bags to Thanatpin, 977 bags to Kawa, 258 bags to Waw, 745 bags to Nyaunglebin, 39 bags to Daik U, and 1,201 bags to Shwegyin township.
