SAC members attend 2022 inter-state/region Taekwondo competition opening ceremony

The opening ceremony of the 2022 Inter-State/Region Taekwondo Competition was held yesterday morning in Nay Pyi Taw. The opening ceremony was attended by Members of the State Administration Council Mahn Nyein Maung, Jeng Phang Naw Taung, U Moung Har, U Sai Lone Hsai, Saw Daniel and Dr Banyar Aung Moe, Union Ministers U Chitt Naing, U Ko Ko, Dr Charlie Than, Dr Thet Khaing Win, U Min Thein Zan, Dr Htay Aung and U Saw Tun Aung Myint, the deputy ministers, departmental officials, officials from the Myanmar Taekwondo Federation, coaches from the participating teams and athletes.
At the ceremony, Union Minister U Min Thein Zan said due to the activities of the Myanmar Taekwondo Federation, the outstanding Myanmar national Taekwondo athletes emerged in a few years and the country was honoured.
The Myanmar national Taekwondo team has made great strides not only in the Southeast Asian Games but also in international competitions, winning one silver and three bronze medals at the 31st SEA Games. He said it is the time when the state is promoting Myanmar sports to the best of its ability, urging athletes to show their skills and win their respective states and regions with the purest sports spirit and strive to become outstanding athletes who can be trusted by the country through inter-state and region competitions.
Afterwards, the SAC members, the Union ministers and officials cordially greeted the team administrators, coaches and athletes and watched the first day of the Taekwondo Team (Men/Women) performing and wrestling matches.
Thirteen men’s teams and fourteen women’s teams will compete in 2022 Inter-State/Region Taekwondo (Men/Women) competitions. It will be held from 15 to 17 June at Wunna Theikdi Gymnasium (B) in Nay Pyi Taw and anyone interested in Taekwondo may come and watch the events free of charge. — MNA
