SAC members attend seminar on ethnic solidarity, development and peace

The talks on ethnic solidarity, development and peace are in progress in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

The Ministry of Ethnic Affairs held a seminar on ethnic solidarity, development and peace for the staff of the ministry yesterday morning in Nay Pyi Taw.
The seminar was attended by Members of the State Administration Council: Mahn Nyein Maung and Jeng Phang Naw Taung; Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs U Saw Tun Aung Myint, Deputy Minister U Zaw Aye Maung, the permanent secretary, directors-general, deputy directors-general, History Professor Dr Khin Saw Nwe (retired), Lisu and Kayin ethnic literature and cultural groups, and officials in Nay Pyi Taw.
At the seminar, SAC Member Mahn Nyein Maung said that solidarity is important in a country, and without it, peace can’t be built and conflicts make women, children and aged people suffer more. He spoke about the efforts of the successive governments which have worked for peace, the signing of the NCA agreement of the ethnic armed organizations on 15 October 2015, the invitation of the Chairman of the State Administration Council to the peace talks, and the need to discuss political issues openly at the political table.
Jeng Phang Naw Taung, a member of the State Administration Council, spoke about the reasons for broken ethnic solidarity, characteristics of Myanmar ethnic groups, the meaning of the spirit of the Union and true patriotism in the development sector, the definition and opinions of peace in the socio-economic development and peace sector, types of peace, Myanmar’s internal peace process, and ways in which peace can be achieved and factors that undermine peace. — MNA
