SAC Vice-Chair Dy PM Vice-Senior General Soe Win enjoys competition of marionette play event

Patron of the Leading Committee on Organizing the 23rd Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win watched the competition of marionette troupe play event at Yinkyayhmu Yadana Hall of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday evening.
At the marionette play am ateur level (first class) event, the Zeyathiri marionette troupe representing Sagaing Region presented performances with full dancing methods under the title of “Ngapada Akkhaya” (five-stanza letter). The Patron of the leading committee, Union level persons, the chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command, deputy ministers, officials and members of the panel of judges watched the competitions.
The Performing Arts Competition started in 1993, and the marionette contest commenced in 1998 with the event of Vidhura Jataka. Thanks to the competition, the marionette profession which faded out for some time re appeared. The marionette profession was designed to disappear together with the Performing Arts Competitions which were not held for many reasons. This year’s competition comprises the marionette play event in order to preserve Myanmar’s traditional cultural heritage and Myanmar ’s marionette professions . —MNA
