SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win inspects South Dagon Oil Palm Cultivation Project, meets town elders, departmental officials in Khamaukgyi

Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win inspected the milling of oil palm nuts at South Dagon Oil Palm Cultivation Project in Bokpyin Township yesterday afternoon.
Project director U Maung Maung Latt reported on the factory project, plans and implementation, and cultivation of oil palm plants.

In his response, the Vice-Senior General discussed the use of high-quality oil palm strains among varieties, priority on the selection of quality strains suitable for the regions, the establishment of SME level manageable palm oil mills for the creation of jobs and development of the regions, preparations for Taninthayi Region to be an oil pot of the State in accord with the guidance of the Prime Minister, production of finished oil for ensuring oil sufficiency in the region and construction of necessary infrastructures.
He viewed measuring the weight of oil palm fruits at the South Dagon Crude Palm Oil Factory, inspecting the quality of fruits, steaming the fruits, milling, and producing crude palm oil.
South Dagon Oil Palm Cultivation Project commenced on 15 May 1995 to ensure local oil sufficiency, reduce imported oil, create job opportunities in the region, develop the region, and establish a sustainable agricultural system without harming the natural environment.
The Vice-Senior General met town elders and departmental officials at the station hall in Khamaukgyi, gave instructions on regional development measures and attended to the needs.
Chief Minister of the region U Myat Ko, who accompanied the Vice-Senior General, fulfilled regional development requirements in meeting with departmental officials in Bokpyin and Kyunsu townships. Deputy ministers also met with staff at relevant departments and gave instructions. — MNA
