Sagaing region has grown 51 acres of dry chilli this monsoon season, said U Win Hlaing Oo, the head of Sagaing Region Agriculture Department.
The cultivating of dry chilli in the monsoon season started in June 2021 in the Sagaing region. About 51 acres of dry chilli has been grown so far.
“Cultivation of both fresh and dried chilli in the Sagaing region has improved. The chilli from ChaungU and Yinmabin has been planned to export to China. Therefore, we will expand the cultivation of fresh chilli this cold season,” said U Win Hlaing Oo.
This year, about 51 acres of dry chilli have been cultivated, including 17 acres in Mawlaik, 27 acres in Phaungbyin and seven acres in Dabayin townships, according to Sagaing Region Agriculture Department.
The staff from the township Agriculture Department is providing technical assistance to chilli growers to improve the yield of chilli and to get market access. — Lulay/GNLM
