Sagaing Region admits 53,157 tourists, homegrown visitors in six months

Sagaing Region Tourism Committee reports a total of 53,157 visitors between February and July 2022.
There are six tourist destinations in Sagaing Region. In the past six months, 52,434 homegrown visitors and 723 tourists arrived in Sagaing Region, totalling 53,157.
The committee ensures the comfortable accommodation and safety of the visitors.
The famous tourist sites are Sagaing Hill, Sun U Ponnyashin, Umin Thonze (30 tunnels) Temple, Kantalu Pagoda, Kyauknaga Pagoda and Sheinmakar area. Mingun Yokesone monastery, Mingun bell and Myatheintan Pagoda. It is the low season. Yet, a high number of homegrown visitors are seen. Most of them go on a day trip. Some go back to Mandalay and some continue their journey to Monywa. The hotels and lodges are not expensive as well,” Ko Zaw Win, a tour operator working on a manageable scale, told the Global New Light of Myanmar (GNLM).
There are 60 hotels and lodges operating under the Sagaing Region Directorate of Hotels and Tourism in 11 townships. In six months, tourism income accumulated K686.861 million and $14,665.
The committee directed fair price of hotels and lodges, providing good service, making the hotel environments clean during the rainy season, advertising travel destinations in the region on the website or other forms of ads such as pamphlets, conducting fresher courses for tourist guides and making the concerted efforts to effectuate the tourism development in Mingun area. — TWA/GNLM
