Saplings of ester flowers marketable in Tatkon Township

Local farmers are engaged in nurturing ester flower plants in villages of Tatkon Township, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, this cold season.
In the past years, the farmers placed emphasis on cultivation of ester flower plantations with the use of underground water. This year, the local farmers who nurture the ester saplings to be sold to the growers earn the larger income than the traditional growers.
The farmers prefer to grow Shwetaungphyu, Chithsanmaung, Chinmaing, Thitkhwa Phawka, Ester and Pawphyu strains of ester flowers.
Growers can save the cost in cultivation of flowery plants in the cold season than that of monsoon paddy.
“I have cultivated six species of ester flowers on 1.5 acres of land, spending K1.2 million on purchase of quality seeds of flowers, fertilizer, fuel, labour charge and pesticides. During the 25-day period of plantation, I have sold the saplings worth K1 million. I expected to earn over K1.3 million profit from my income in nurturing the flower saplings,” said U Maung Aye of Changyi Village.—Tin Soe Lwin (Tatkon IPRD)
