School’s back wall collapsed causing five deaths in Mawlamyine

Five persons died when a school’s back wall collapsed in Mawlamyine on 22 July. The incident happened at BEHS No 5 located on the upper main road in the Shwetaung ward of Mawlamyine.
“During heavy rains, a wall fell onto adjacent shops, killing two boys and three girls on the spot. One boy has been saved alive,” explained Ko Bo Bo Win from the Bo Bo Win emergency rescue.
Five dead bodies and one injured person were sent to the Mawlamyine People’s Hospital by social organizations. Police are investigating the case.
Cleaning work is being done by fire brigade members, the Yamanya and Bo Bo Win rescue organizations and locals. —TWA/GNLM
