Myanmar U-22 men’s football team faced a 0-5 loss against Indonesia U-22 team in the Group A match of SEA Games Men’s Football Tournament, played at Olympic Stadium, Phnom Penh, Cambodia yesterday.
In terms of individual skills, strategy and team play, the Indonesian team is stronger than the Myanmar team in yesterday’s match. Although the Myanmar players tried their best, they couldn’t stop Indonesia’s fast attack.
At the 20-minute mark, team Indonesia broke the deadlock with a goal scored by Marcelino.
After the first goal, Indonesia did not stop their tempo and the second goal was scored by Ramadhan via penalty at 30 minutes.
Team Indonesia still dominated in the later minutes to end the first half with double goals.
In the second half, Team Myanmar used some new strategies to get equalizers but they did not work. With more football possessions than the Myanmar team, the opponents made the third goal at the 59-minute mark, scored by Ramadhan.
Next, Fajar scored the fourth and Titan Agung made the fifth for Indonesia at 73, and 88 minutes respectively. Despite the big loss, the Myanmar team played the best blocking game till the final whistle.
Next, Myanmar will face host Cambodia on 7 May. Since Team Myanmar have lost one match, they will have a chance to advance to the semifinals only if it wins against the host team. — KZL
