Second day of 40th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM), its Associated Meetings continues

The second day of the 40th AMEM and its associated meetings is in progress virtually.

The 16th East Asia Summit Energy Ministers Meeting-EAS-EMM and the 19th AMEM+3 meeting were held virtually on the second day of the 40th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM) and Associated Meetings, and Union Minister for Energy U Myo Myint and Deputy Minister U Thant Sin joined the meetings.
During the meeting, the leaders discussed the energy security in ASEAN regions, oil and natural gas technology and basic infrastructure development, the use of clean energy and renewable energy resource, energy market stability, Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) Technical growth, cooperation work in hydrogen and ammonia energy technical, further cooperation between ASEAN and East Asian countries, ASEAN and Japan, Korea and China, policies and procedures.
Then, the Union minister said natural gas plays a key role in Myanmar’s energy sector in future. The government is making efforts to improve the oil and natural gas production at inland and offshore blocks to meet the country’s energy needs. It also tries to meet the goals of the ASEAN energy sector. It also arranges to generate electric power from renewable energy such as small-scale hydropower, wind and solar in remote villages from the national grid. The policies are being laid down to use the energy effectively, save energy, promote the use of renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions. The country also participates in CCUS Technical and hydrogen-ammonia energy technical activities with the ASEAN countries, ASEAN’s dialogue partners and International Energy Agency.
Then, officials released the “The Joint Ministerial Statement (JMS) of the 16th EAS-EMM” and “The Joint Ministerial Statement (JMS) of the 19th AMEM+3”.
Indonesia will host the 41st ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM) and Associated Meetings in 2023. — MNA
