Second JICM to be held in mid-November


After signing the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement between the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and eight ethnic armed groups 15 October,  the Joint Implementation Coordination Meeting (JICM) was held in the same afternoon in accordance with Sub-paragraph (a)(1) of Paragraph (21) of Chapter (5) of the NCA. President U TheinSein delivered a speech at the meeting.
The meeting, attended by Vice President Dr Sai Mauk Kham, continued on 16 and 17 October at the Max Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw and the Joint Monitoring Committee and Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee were formed at the meeting.
In addition, both sides agreed to make efforts to enable ethnic armed groups that have not signed the NCA to participate in the peace process in a respectful manner, to hold the second JICM in mid-November and political dialogues and to continue to work for holding political dialogues in accordance with the terms of the NCA, according to the press release of the meeting.
