Second regular session of Pyidaungsu Hluttaw begins

1The second regular session of the Second Pyidaungsu Hluttaw began in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday with greetings extended by Speaker Mahn Win Khaing Than.
In his address, the Speaker called for participation of lawmakers in parliamentary activities including legislation honestly and constructively to satisfy the desires of citizens.
Next, Deputy Minister for Planning and Finance U Maung Maung Win elaborated on the second six-month tax revenue report for FY 2015-16, saying that the country exceeded the tax revenue collection target in 11 types of tax but failed to reach its target in seven types of tax.
The deputy minister also explained distribution of tax revenues and the ministry’s efforts to ensure a taxation system meeting international standards and stop tax evasion.
Then, a member of Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Joint Public Accounts Committee read out the committee’s findings and remarks on the report.
Afterwards, Union Minister for Planning and Finance U Kyaw Win clarified the amendment of the 2016-17 Budget and the amendment bill of the Union Budget Law 2016.
Regarding Recommendation 203 on the Protocol to the 1930 Forced Labour Convention 29, Union Minister U Thein Swe reported to Pyidaungsu Hluttaw to document the Protocol to the Forced Labour Convention 1930 No. 29 and Recommendation 203 as a member of the International Labour Organization (ILO).— Myanmar News Agency
