Reports have emerged that security forces set fire to Lonchon Village and Magyeekhin Village in Gangaw Township, Magway Region, on 14 August, allegedly destroying three houses in the process and stealing public property using two vehicles. These claims have been circulated by malicious news media outlets, raising concerns among the public.
However, according to a statement from a security official, the valid sequence of events differs significantly. Security forces were reportedly responding to a tip-off from a resident, who indicated that PDF terrorists had gathered near the village. The ensuing operation resulted in clashes, during which PDF members sustained injuries and fled the area. Houses in the village were then set on fire by fleeing terrorists, not by security forces.
The security official further emphasized that malicious news media fabricate the accusations of arson and stealing against the security forces to mislead the public and create fear. The official also noted that collaboration between security forces and responsible citizens successfully thwarted PDF terrorist activities.
These false allegations and propaganda are part of ongoing efforts by these malicious news media to distort the truth and incite panic among the people. — MNA/KZL
