Seminar on blood storage, transportation held at National Blood Center

The Seminar on Verification Survey for disseminating Japanese Technology for Blood Storage and Transportation Services was held at the National Blood Center in Yangon yesterday morning.
Union Peace Commission Chairman Dr. Tin Myo Win first addressed the seminar, followed by remarks from Dr. Zaw Than Tun, the Director-General of the Department of Medical Research, which is under the Ministry of Health and Sports, Mr. Kazuyuki Takimi, Counsellor of the Japanese Embassy, and Mr. Shunichi Ogiri, Senior Managing Director of Daido Industries.
Next, Mr. Ogiri explained about the importance of proper blood storage for promoting safe blood transfusion, the report displaying findings of using Japanese technology and services, and the challenges for Myanmar’s blood transfusion services including proper equipment and developing the required human resources.
Following this, Mr. Hideto Ogawa of the Japan Red Cross Society’s blood donation center explained about the blood storage management of blood centers in Japan, Dr. Takehiro Kohno of Osaka Medical College explained how medical professionals in Japan are increasing the usages of blood, Prof. Akira Kokununji of Hiroshima International University explained the role of Japanese technicians in the blood transfusion system, and Ms. Mayumi Matsumoto, a certified transfusion nurse, explained about the blood transfusion skills related to nurses in Japan.
Next, the head of the National Blood Center, Deputy Director-General Dr. Thida Aung delivered the closing speech.
Attending yesterday’s seminar were Mr. Kazuyuki Takimi, Counsellor of the Japanese Embassy, officials from JICA and JETRO, rectors from medical universities, hospital superintendents, and officials from the Myanmar Medical Association, Myanmar Medical Professional Association, Myanmar Medical Council, Myanmar Nurse Association, and government departments. —MNA (Translated by Zaw Htet Oo)
