Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attends 15th ACDFIM

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General and other ASEAN Commanders-in-Chief attended the 15th ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces Informal Meeting (ACDFIM) held in The Fullerton Hotel in Singapore yesterday.
The assembly’s chairman C-in-C of Singapore Defence Force Lt-Gen Perry Lim delivered the opening speech and proceeded to show the 15th ACDFIM documentary video to the ASEAN C-in-Cs in attendance.
This was followed with presentations from the Director of Singapore Military Intelligence Brig-Gen Ong Tze-Ch’n about the results of the 15th ASEAN Military Intelligence Informal Meeting, and from the Director of Singapore Military Joint Operations Brig-Gen Tan Chee Wee about the results of the 8th ASEAN Military Operations Informal Meeting.
Next, Lt-Gen Perry Lim headed the discussions on various topics with fellow ASEAN C-in-Cs taking turns in alphabetical order.
Senior General Min Aung Hlaing led the discussion on building mutual trust between ASEAN countries through cooperation. He said all ASEAN member countries need to work to integrate their differences in accordance with the ASEAN’s motto of “Our Vision, One Identity, One Community”.
The Senior General said that the world is currently facing trans-border crimes, terrorist attacks, natural disasters, and cyber security threats and also other new forms of security threats. He said Myanmar is currently facing possible threats from illegal immigrants and measures have been taken by intelligence agencies to counter possible terrorist attacks. He said Myanmar is striving to effectively counter both conventional and irregular threats to the nation.
This was followed by the C-in-Cs discussing the 2018-2019 two-year working plan for ASEAN Defence Services and then signing the joint-declaration of the 15th ACDFIM.
Next, Singapore’s Commander-in-Chief passed over the duty of Chairman for the 16th ACDFIM to the next host country’s commander-in-chief, General Tarnchaiyan Srisuwan of the Royal Thai Armed Forces.
In the evening, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met separately with General Tarnchaiyan Srisuwan and Malaysia’s C-in-C General Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Bin Raja Mohamed Noor.
Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended a welcoming dinner hosted by Singapore C-in-C Lt-Gen Perry Lim at the Ocean Gallery in S.E.A Aquarium Resort World Sentosa on 7 March.
Lt-Gen Perry Lim and his wife greeted all the ASEAN C-in-Cs first before giving a tour of the Ocean Gallery. Lt-Gen Perry Lim then delivered a welcoming speech before having dinner together with the invited guests.
