Planting and cultivation trees is a national duty, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said at the rainy season tree planting ceremony of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) held near Yezin Dam in Zeyathiri Township in Nay Pyi Taw on Sunday morning.
Also present at the ceremony were Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Hla Htay Win and senior officials of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and their wives, trainee officers from the National Defence College and officers and other ranks from the Office of Commander-in-Chief and families.
Then, the senior general planted star flower and Mesua ferrea plants to mark the ceremony.
Afterwards, attendees planted trees at their designated places while the senior general and officials viewed round the planting trees at the ceremony.
At the ceremony, a total of 5,000 trees including over 2010 teak trees were planted.
Similar ceremonies were also held in military commands across the country at the same time including Nay Pyi Taw Command, Northern Command, North-East Command, Eastern Command, Central East Command, Triangle Region Command, Coastal Region Command, Yangon Command, South-West Command, Western Command, North-West Command, Central Command and Southern Command. A total of 397,270 were planted by defence services personnel today.–Myawady
