The bilateral relationship between Myanmar and Bangladesh must be cemented in mutual trust through transparency, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, commander-in-chief of Defence Services, said in a meeting with Vice Admiral Muhammad Farid Habib, chief of naval staff of Bangladesh, at Zeyathiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.
The senior general highlighted that there is a need to solve border issues with a constructive attitude as Myanmar and Bangladesh are good-neighbour countries, adding that the two countries should carry out coordination not to harm the interests of both sides for ensuring the perpetuation of their sovereignty and safety of citizens. He noted that the two countries are to join hands in effectively combating terrorist groups.
The Bangladeshi chief of naval staff said that being a populous country, Bangladesh depends on the sea. He added that Bangladesh will cooperate with Myanmar for ensuring a brighter life of future generations so as to contribute to the regional stability and development of both
They discussed the promotion of coordination for raising interest of the seas based on meetings between two navies and exchange of information between navies of two nations for prevention against unconventional threats of sea security.
