As part of its push to improve literacy countrywide, the Information and Public Relations Department has been opening a succession of ward and village libraries across the nation.
A basic librarian course began at the hall of Dekkhina District IPRD in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area on Tuesday, with an address by Director (Information/Relations) U Aung Ngwe of IPRD (Head Office).
Trainees will receive the opportunity to study the courses on the durability of libraries, the role of the library in development of human resources, the history of libraries, the democratisation process and public service media, procedures of librarianship, and public librarian service.
Senior librarians of the department will share their experience with 51 ward and village librarians from the district in a three-day course
from 10 t0 12 March.
