Goal coach of the U-21 team of Shan United F.C., U Nay Hlaing, recently accepted an offer to join the Laos men’s national football coaching team, according to a statement released by Shan United.
With the Laos national team offering the goal coach a one-year contract, Shan United terminated its contract with the coach to allow him to serve on the Laos squad.
“The year-long contract will start from 15 February. I have accepted the position which will add to my experience, and I’m really thankful to Shan United officials who understood this and let me take a decision. They even helped me and terminated my contract with the team,” said goal coach U Nay Hlaing.
U Nay Hlaing, 33, was an outstanding student at the Sports and Physcial Science School (Yangon) and has played for the Under 14, Under 17, Under 19, and Under 21 national football teams. He has also been on the Trade and Agriculture football team.
After the Myanmar National League was launched in Myanmar in 2009 and until 2017, he served as the goalkeeper for Delta United, Nay Pyi Taw F.C., Ayeyawady United, and Yangon United. In 2018, U Nay Hlaing finished the AFC C Coaching Certificate Course and MA Goalkeeping Course. Thereafter, he was signed by Hantharwady United as its goal coach.
He moved to Shan United in 2019. He is currently attending the AFC B Coaching Certificate course.—Lynn Thit (Tgi)
