The ceremony of lighting 10,000 candles at Shwedagon Pagoda was held at the building of the Yaykyitaw ritual team in front of the Pagoda platform at 5 pm yesterday to mark the 10th anniversary of the International Day of the Belt and Road, organized by the Myanmar Arts and Culture Association (Yangon).
Officials said prayers at the ceremony. Afterwards, Deputy Information Minister U Ye Tint and attendees offered ten thousand candles to the Shwedagon Pagoda, lit them in candle stands around the pagoda platform, and offered prayers.
The International Day of the Belt and Road is celebrated annually in countries related to the Belt and Road Initiative.
Yesterday’s event was to mark not only the 10th anniversary of the International Day of the Belt and Road but also for the sake of the peaceful development of Myanmar and the peace of the world. — MNA/KZL
