Shwethaungyan Beach in Pathein Township, Ayeyawady Region, saw a total of 29,954 visitors, both domestic and international, in February 2024, according to Daw Cherry Myint, an Executive Officer of the Myanmar Tourism Federation (Shwethaungyan Beach).

The beach has a total of 20 hotels and guest houses offering service to visitors year-round.

Shwethaungyan Beach received 28,555 domestic and overseas visitors in January 2024. In February, 29,954 domestic and foreign tourists visited the beach, indicating an increase in the number of visitors. Most of them made day trips. Since the school holiday period starts in February and more tourist arrivals are expected in April and May, the number of visitors is anticipated to rise further,” Daw Cherry Myint said.

Currently, measures are being implemented at every hotel in Shwethaungyan Beach before the peak season to ensure cleanliness along the beach in front of the hotel, beautify the landscapes and roads within the hotel compound, and maintain overall cleanliness in public areas. Additionally, preparations are underway to offer local cuisine to guests staying at the hotels.

In addition, various seafood, local products, and souvenirs are sold along the beach, while bicycles, motor boats, horse carts, and horse rental services are also provided.

Shwethaungyan Beach, naturally adorned with clean and clear seawater, is situated approximately eight miles from Chaungtha Beach and spans nearly four miles in width. — ASH/TH
