Ambulances are getting ready at Ye Thurain (Sangyoung Township) on 6 July for emergency on diarrhoea.

Social relief and rescue associations in Yangon Region said they have cooperated in responding to diarrhoea with respective officials.

As a part of prevention and control measures against diarrhoea, officials have conducted education on how to prevent this disease among the public.

“We’ve made sure preparation for two possible disasters- diahorrea and flood. We have now educated the public about dos and don’ts for diarrhoea, and also cooperated with other associations in how to respond to this disease if it breaks out,” said Yangon-based Shwe Myitta social relief and rescue association chair Ma Shwe Lae.

They have made preparation for spraying disinfectant and sharing knowledge about diarrhoea at markets, crowded areas and some areas packed with children, if it is necessary, she said. She added that it is necessary to gain access to clean drinking water in order to prevent diarrhoea which is flood-related disease.

“Water is not clean any more following flood. All are covered in contaminated water. Sanitation gets ruined. So diarrhoea may follow,” said Ma Shwe Lae.
