A team of specialist doctors, including experts in hematology, cardiology, gastrointestinal issues, brain and neurology, brain and neurosurgery, diabetes and hormonal conditions, and general practitioners from New Yangon General Hospital, performed medical treatments for local residents in Pathein, Ayeyawady Region on 22 and 23 July.
During their visit, the medical team provided treatments not only in Pathein but also in various nearby areas, including Kangyidaunt, Thabaung, Myaungmya, Ngaputaw, Kyonpyaw, Yekyi, Labutta, Einme, Kyaunggon, Wakema, Ngathainggyoung, Chaungtha, and Ngwesaung. In total, they attended to 785 patients.
Furthermore, specialists from Pathein General Hospital participated in the medical mission, jointly examining 74 patients with eye diseases, ten patients in obstetrics and gynecology, 79 orthopedic patients, 17 surgery patients, 20 patients with ear, nose, and throat conditions, five dental patients, and 20 patients with skin issues. Additionally, nine children received medical treatment, bringing the total number of treated individuals to 234.
The specialist medical team was supported by officials from the Ministry of Health and the Public Health and Medical Services Departments of Ayeyawady Region.
This medical outreach programme is part of the Ministry of Health’s efforts to bring quality healthcare to various regions across Myanmar. Similar programmes have already been conducted in Sittway, Rakhine State, and this initiative will continue to be implemented in other regions and states in the future. — MNA/KZW
