Specialists conduct medical outreach in Pyay, Bago Region

The specialist and health staff make medical checkup for the patient.

A specialist team from North Okkalapa and Thingangyun General Hospitals in collaboration with medics from Pyay General Hospital performed medical treatments on residents in Pyay Township, Bago Region on 26 and 27 August.
During their two-day visit, the medical team provided treatments to 121 patients with heart diseases, 47 patients with chest conditions, 63 gastroenteritis patients, 142 neurological patients, four neurosurgical patients, 29 patients with liver disease, 16 patients with hematologic disorders, 73 patients with urological and nephrological conditions, 173 patients with bone and nerves conditions, 403 patients with physiological conditions, 54 patients with eye conditions, 13 obstetrics and gynecology patients, 165 orthopaedic patients, 45 surgical patients, 31 patients with ear, nose and throat conditions, four dental patients, two cancer patients and 17 children, totalling 1,402.
The specialist team made medical examinations for the patients with the aid of respective diagnosis machines. Apart from patients in Pyay, those from 10 townships of western Bago Region and three townships of Magway Region were also benefitted from the treatment of mobile specialist team.
Professor Dr Thuzar Thin, Head of Urology and Nephrology Department, Universtry of Medicine (2) Yangon and the leader of the specialist team, talked with local people about kidney diseases and recommended lifestyles and foods to be able to avoid such diseases.
In addition, arrangements were made for the transfer of four patients who needed treatment for liver, three patients needing cardiac surgery and three patients who needed bronchoscopy procedures to North Okkalapa General Hospital.
The specialist team has treated three times in Sittway, Rakhine State and similar programmes have already been conducted in Pathein, Taunggyi, and Magway. And this initiative will cover other regions and states. — MNA/TH
