Spreading misinformation: Tatmadaw arrests 60 civilians in Sittway

There has been false news circulating in the Development Media Group, a Rakhine news outlet, claiming that the Tatmadaw arrested approximately 60 civilians in Sittway, Rakhine State, on 7 January, using massive force.
Upon investigation, it was found that the Development Media Group, a Rakhine media organization, had spread misinformation on social networks.
However, there is no truth to this news. According to a local security official, routine checks are conducted on local peace and security activities to ensure the community can live peacefully. The security forces have not arrested any innocent civilians without reason.
Malicious news media are reportedly spreading unverified misinformation to disrupt peace and order in the areas. Their goal is to misrepresent the actions of security forces among the ethnic communities. — MNA/KZW
