S&R teams cooperate to evacuate flood victims in Nay Pyi Taw

Due to the continuous heavy rains in recent days that have inundated some townships in Nay Pyi Taw, the Myanmar Fire Brigade, the Myanmar Red Cross Society, and social rescue teams are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of those affected.
Since the morning of 12 September, the Myanmar Fire Brigade has responded to 30 flood-affected locations, evacuating a total of 3,602 people to safety areas in Nay Pyi Taw. Similarly, local Red Cross volunteers, in cooperation with relevant departments and rescue teams, are providing first aid to the injured and assisting in the rescue of flood victims.
On the night of 12 September and the morning of 13 September, 96 flood victims, including children, who were still in Thitsaintpin village in Pyinmana Township, were rescued and evacuated by boat.
As per initial information, a total of 19 people, including six men and 13 women, have died. Search and rescue operations are ongoing. — ASH/Htun Htun/MKKS
