SSB holds meeting on relief measures amid COVID-19 pandemic

Officials from the Social Security Board (SSB) under the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population yesterday held meeting on relief measures and further processes during the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the meeting, Union Minister U Thein Swe said that the COVID-19 is spreading throughout the world so far and causes burdens for people regarding health issues and economy sectors and so the ministry has set strategic plan to response these negative impacts.
The government provided social security benefits including 40 per cent of social security fees to insured workers from the factories and workshops which are temporarily suspended for the inspections whether they are in line with the rules released by the Ministry of Health and Sports.
The SSB needs to study the challenges of other international social security boards in analyzing whether the current relief measures are effective.
Director-General of SSB briefed the contribution of K26,576.762 million for social security fees during COVID-19 pandemic, Pilot project with Wave Money, medical supplies to social security hospitals and clinics, educating programmes via videos, pamphlets, posters and viber stickers, relief measures and further processes under CERP.
The Union Minister added that to implement unemployment benefits system with the helps of ILO, to continue receiving aids of EU, to expand contributions via Wave Money, to conduct pilot project with CCT Function for e-Contribution of business people in paying fees, to review the remaining workplaces for 40 per cent of social security fees and 60 per cent for pregnant women.
He also met with new 18 assistant doctors and instructed to carry out the duties in line with the mission and visions of the ministry and civil servant regulations. He said that the health workers of SSB play key role and they need to serve the patients with proper treatment to raise the trust in public hospitals and clinics. —MNA
