State Counsellor arrives in Japan to attend 10th Mekong-Japan Summit

At the invitation of Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi left Nay Pyi Taw for Japan yesterday morning to attend the 10th Mekong-Japan Summit and to hold bilateral talks. The State Counsellor and delegation arrived in Tokyo at 6:00 pm local time.
The delegation led by State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was seen off at the Nay Pyi Taw International Airport by Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council Dr. Myo Aung, Chief of Myanmar Police Force Police Lt-Gen Aung Win Oo, Japanese Charge’ d’ affaires a.i. Mr. Toru Maeda, and officials.
The delegation comprises Union Minister for the Office of the Union Government U Thaung Tun, Union Minister for International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin, Deputy Minister for the Office of the President U Min Thu, Deputy Minister for Planning and Finance U Set Aung, senior officers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and officials.

When they arrived at Bangkok at 8:30 am on their way to Japan, the delegation was welcomed by Myanmar Ambassador to Thailand U Myo Myint Than and wife, Military Attaché (Army, Navy and Air) Brig-Gen Khin Zaw and staff of the Myanmar Embassy in Bangkok.
Upon arrival at the Haneda Airport in Tokyo, the delegation led by State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was welcomed by Mr. Hiroto Izumi, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan, Japanese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Ichiro Maruyama Myanmar Ambassador to Japan U Thurein Thant Zin, Myanmar military attaché Brig-Gen Saw Min and officials of the Myanmar Embassy. — MNA
