State Counsellor attends 2018 conference on implementing education development

State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi attended and addressed the 2018 Conference on Implementing Education Development held in Myanmar International Convention Centre (II) (MICC-II), Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
The conference was attended by Union Ministers Lt-Gen Ye Aung, U Kyaw Tint Swe, Dr. Pe Myint, Dr. Aung Thu, U Ohn Win, Dr. Myo Thein Gyi, U Kyaw Tin, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman Dr. Myo Aung, Deputy Minister U Tha Oo, National Education Policy Commission Chairman Dr. Myo Kywe, Amyotha Hluttaw and Pyithu Hluttaw education development committees members, officials from National Education Policy Commission and committees, Rectors Committee members, members of Myanmar Arts and Science expert group and technician group, directors general, rectors, deputy directors general, pro rectors, heads of universities and colleges, representatives of the teachers’ union and invited guests.
At first, State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi addressed the conference. Her speech is reported separately.
After delivering her speech, State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi posed for a commemorative group photo with other attendees and inspected the exhibits displayed at the 2018 Conference on Implementing Education Development.
Next, Union Minister for Education Dr. Myo Thein Gyi conducted the second part of the 2018 conference on implementing education development (higher education sector).
At the conference, Rectors Committee Chairman University of Medicine 1 Yangon Rector Dr. Zaw Wei Soe, Professor Liviu Matei and Dr. Michael Marett-Crosby first read papers titled “The role of Professors Committee on higher education development” and “International Collaboration, master plans and higher education – the example of the University of Yangon.” Following this, more papers were read by rectors of various universities and colleges in Myanmar. The 2018 conference on implementing education development (higher education sector) will be held until 25 August, it is learnt.—MNA
