State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who is attending the 33rd ASEAN Summit in Singapore attended the ASEAN-India Informal Breakfast Summit, 6th ASEAN-US Summit, 21st ASEAN +3 Summit, East Asia Summit Luncheon, 13th East Asia Summit, closing ceremony of 33rd ASEAN Summit and related summits and a ceremony to hand over 2019 ASEAN alternate chairmanship to Thailand yesterday.
The State Counsellor attended the ASEAN-India Informal Breakfast Summit held at the Suntec Expo Convention Center, Singapore at 8:30 a.m. local standard time.
Next, she attended the 6th ASEAN-US Summit and 21st ASEAN +3 Summit.
In the afternoon State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi attended the East Asia Summit Luncheon and 13th East Asia Summit.
In the afternoon the Sate Counsellor attended the closing ceremony of the 33rd ASEAN Summit and related summits and a ceremony to hand over the ASEAN alternating chairmanship and a hammer representing the chairman’s job to the Prime Minister of Thailand General (retired) Prayut Chan-o-cha.
At the event 2018 ASEAN alternating chairman Singapore Prime Minister Mr. Lee Hsien Loong delivered a closing speech and then handed over the ASEAN alternating chairmanship for 2019 and a hammer representing the chairman’s job to the Prime Minister of Thailand General (retired) Prayut Chan-o-cha.
The ceremony came to a close after the Thai Prime Minister who is taking up the duty of ASEAN alternating chairmanship delivered a message of greeting.
The summits, closing ceremony and the ceremony to hand over the ASEAN chairmanship was attended by heads of state, heads of government and ministers from ASEAN countries of Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam, high ranking ASEAN officials, heads of state, heads of government, ministers and high ranking officials from ASEAN dialogue partner countries, ASEAN Secretary-General, ASEAN permanent representatives and officials.
