Natural Strategic Partnership, Myanmar migrant workers, second Friendship Bridge among issues discussed

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, received H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw on 14 August at 15:00 hrs., during his visit to Myanmar to attend the 9th Meeting of Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation between Myanmar and Thailand, and the 70th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, the State Counsellor and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand discussed various issues ranging from promoting bilateral relations, economic and socio-cultural cooperation; enhancing the bilateral relations between Myanmar and Thailand to the “Natural Strategic Partnership”; doubling the current bilateral trade volume by 2022; working continuously for the legal employment of Myanmar migrant workers and their due entitlements; opening of the 2nd Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge for better connectivity; strengthening the exchanges between the Provinces/States and Regions along the border; implementing of modern villages project based on agriculture, livestock and farming to contribute to the efforts of the Myanmar Government for the development of Rakhine State; promoting people-to-people contacts and tourism with agriculture, livestock and farming; and exploring possible ways to further expand the multi-faceted cooperation in both bilateral and regional contexts. — MNA
