Myanmar national team captain Maung Maung Lwin, who competed in the 2020 ASEAN Suzuki Cup, joined Lamphun Warriors F.C., a Thai League-2 club this week.
Maung Maung Lwin went to Thailand directly after the Suzuki tourney to finalize his contract with the team, according to a statement released by Lamphun Warriors FC on 21 December. Maung Maung Lwin is playing abroad for the first time.
The Lamphun Warriors have qualified for the Thai League II this season and are fourth in the table after the first leg.
Maung Maung Lwin is a member of the Myanmar team that qualified for the 2015 U-20 World Cup and has been a regular member of the Myanmar national team.
Maung Maung Lwin started his professional career with Hantharwady United and moved to Yangon United in the 2018 season, and his contract with Yangon United was terminated last month.
Maung Maung Lwin’s teammate Aung Thu is currently playing for Thai League I Club Buriram United, and Kyaw Ko Ko in Thai League II Club Phrae United.
Meanwhile, Zaw Min Tun is playing for Trat FC of Thai League II Club and Aung Kyaw Naing in Pattaya FC of Thai League III. — Ko Nyi Lay/GNLM
