Devastating winds landed in Sagaing and Magway regions this week, destroying houses and religious buildings.
In Sagaing region, damages occurred at 95 houses and two monasteries in Wuntho, Katha, Indaw and Hticheint townships on 12 April; 77 houses and 3 monasteries in Kawlin, Phaungpyin, Kalaywa, Indaw, Pinlebu, Mamauk and Wuntho townships on 15 April; 56 houses in Minkin Township on 16 April.
More strong winds in Magway Region on 16 April destroyed 184 houses in Magway, 15 houses and 1 monastery in Pauk, 10 houses in Minbu and 5 houses in Salin townships.
Officials from the Disaster Management Department under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, together with local authorities, provided humanitarian aid worth over K14.2 million. The ministry has set up hotlines 067 3404666 and 067 340 4777 for getting disaster aid.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
