Construction of suspension bridge in Shinorain village, Kanpetlet Township, Mindat District, Chin State began in the first week of March and is now ready to give transport service to local people, according to the Kanpetlet Township Rural Development Department.
The Rural Development Department of Kanpetlet Township has funded the Village Development Project (VDP) this financial year for the bridge construction.
The cable-stayed bridge is 415 feet long, 4.6 feet wide and 30 feet high.
Under the Village Development Plan (VDP), the construction of the bridge was carried out with K10 million funds of the Rural Development Department of Kanpetlet Township for the 2020-2021 budget year.
The villagers themselves were also involved in the construction of the bridge under the close supervision and technical support of the Department of Rural Development.
“Villages in Kanpetlet Township are hilly and difficult to access during the rainy season. The suspension bridge connects Shinorain village with Aukkant village. The bridge will give socio-economic and transportation benefits to 512 villagers from 80 households,” said U Thang Um, township head of the Rural Development Department, Kanpetlet Township. — Soe Moe Kyaw/ GNLM
