A coordination meeting on increasing the implementation tasks of the Research and Development Centre under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement was held at the ministry’s meeting hall yesterday.
Union SWRR Minister Dr. Win Myat Aye first delivered a speech. He said his ministry regularly sets policies, laws, strategies, procedures, and short-term and long-term projects for social protection, managing manmade disasters, and rehabilitation. He said using factually supported research data in the aforementioned undertakings will better fulfil the needs of the people and achieve expected beneficial changes.
The centre was opened on 14 September 2016 and the Protocol and Ethics Board was formed as well, said the Union Minister. He said evaluating the research conducted over two years have produced noticeable results. He said more experts will be called in for conducting research. He added that staff need to become more interested in the research tasks and upgrade their research skills.
Afterwards, Deputy Minister U Soe Aung, directors-general and officials discussed the work operations. —MNA
