SWRR Ministry provides cash assistance to people with disabilities, mother’s circles in Kayah State

People with disabilities and mother’s circles in Kayah State were provided with cash assistances yesterday at Kayah State government office in Loikaw Town.
Speaking at the providing cash assistance ceremony, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye said cash would be provided to the disabled persons and newborn babies who are included at vulnerable groups during the event.
Social welfare procedures that cover from the pregnant to the elderly are wide. The ministry would draw up necessary plans in accordance with laws, by-laws and strategies.
To get a better human resource in future, the ministry is focusing on providing cash assistances for the pregnant women and children under 2-year old and conducting educative programmes.
The new Child Rights Law was enacted in order to grantee development and protection to the children. The youth polices that were drawn up together with youths are also being implemented for the stands and development of the youths.
The ministry is also trying to give more effective assistances to the disabled persons in accordance with their abilities after forming the National Committee on Rights of Persons with Disabilities (NCRPD), the Union Minister said.
He then said that it was an initial assistance, and urged people, related departments and non-governmental organizations to cooperate in implementing the social protection processes as they are unable to be performed by his ministry alone.
Afterwards, Kayah State Chief Minister U L Phaung Sho expressed thanks to the ministry for social welfare programmes and assistances and urged the people to try on achieving the goal of building a federal democratic Union.
The Union Minister and party then presented K 15.3 million cash assistance for 30 mother circles in Kayah State, and K 30.84 million for 1,028 disabled persons to the related officials.
The Union Minister and party then provided cash assistances to the disabled persons who attended the event, and also distributed nutritious snacks, and toys to the children.— MNA (Translated by Kyaw Zin Tun)
