Thai, Singapore bag victories; no hopes for Myanmar in Suzuki

With the wins of Thailand and Singapore, Myanmar will be eliminated from the group stage of the Suzuki Cup Tournament which is being held in Singapore.
The ASEAN Suzuki Cup Group A matches continued on 14 December, with the victories of Thailand and Singapore securing the three-point score each, while the Myanmar team said good-bye to the group stage.
On the fourth day of the group, Thailand beat the Philippines 2-1, and Singapore beat Timor-Leste 2-0 and secured the Semi-final spot each.
Myanmar and the Philippines teams, who had 3 points in 3 matches and Timor-Leste, who have not scored in the last four games, have been knocked out of the group stage.
The final day of Group A will be played on 18 December. The match between Thailand and Singapore will be played for the first place in the group and the match between Myanmar and the Philippines will be played for dignity.
The Myanmar team has reached the semi-finals only twice in the history of Suzuki in 2004 and 2016 and has been knocked out of the group stages in the rest of the competition. — Ko Nyi Lay/GNLM
